Outline Tool Tips & Tricks

The outline tool is great for tracing shapes or offsetting a specific distance from a shape.

Tip 1: Press 0 on Your Keyboard

To place the new line exactly on top of the line you are tracing, press 0 and then Enter on your keyboard.

Create a Raised Bond Beam

  1. Go to the Hardscapes Stage, activate the Outline Tool, and select the pool.

  2. Press 0 on your keyboard to lock the offset and draw directly on the pool wall for a more precise shape.

  3. After pressing 0, click to set the starting point for the outline, then trace the desired length.

Tip 2: Autocomplete Shapes with Orange End Points

Draw a single line, then use the Outline Tool to set an offset. The software will automatically generate the second line to close and complete the shape.

  1. Activate the Outline Tool, trace the desired length, and left‑click the orange end point.

  2. Set the offset by moving your mouse or typing a distance, then click to place the outline.

Tip 3: Avoid Starting on Overlapping Shapes

When multiple lines overlap, begin tracing in a clear, isolated area where it’s easy to select the correct line.

To outline multiple shapes:

  1. Start in an isolated area.

  2. Trace along the pool line and click to stop when you reach the spa line.

  3. Then click the spa line to continue and outline the spa.

Tip 4: Zoom In

Zoom in to make it easier to select the exact line you want to outline.

If you prefer not to trigger autocomplete, click slightly away from the end point.
