How to Fix Slow Save and Autosave

Anti-Virus, Anti-Malware, and Ransomware services actively scan files while they are being created. The "Active scanning" process can cause significant slowdown when saving or autosaving. To speed up file creation, add exclusions for our software.

Create Exclusions to Speed up Save and Autosave

Option 1: Add exclusions for the save files. The names of these files end with the extension .sav

Option 2: Add an exclusion for the Structure Studios folder. The default location of the folder is C:\StructureStudios.

Note: If you've done this step in the past, double check your settings. Automatic updates to your virus scanner sometimes reset these settings without warning.

Add an Exclusion to Your Third-Party Virus Scanner

How to add an exclusion is determined by the virus scanning service you use. The most common services offer instructions on their websites. If your virus scanner isn't listed, search their help documentation for the word "exclusions" for instructions.

Add an Exclusion in Windows 10 (if you do not use a third-party virus scanner)

You can stop Windows Security from alerting you or blocking files by adding the Structure Studios folder to the exclusions list.

1. Open your Windows Security Settings. Click here: Add an exclusion.

2. Under Virus & threat protection settings, select Manage settings.

3. Under Exclusions, select Add or remove exclusions.

4. Select Add an exclusion and then select C:\StructureStudios. The exclusion will apply to any subfolders within the folder as well.
