Let’s create together.

We build software that transforms entire industries.
If you enjoy creating things that make a difference as much as we do, we'd love to meet you.

What we do

Ever since we designed the first interactive 3D swimming pool two decades ago, we’ve continued to innovate — creating solutions that are both meaningful and powerful, surprising and delightful.

Now, our software powers more than two million outdoor living design projects each year. Our members know they can rely on us because we know it takes more than tech skills to write rock-solid, award-winning software — it takes curiosity, communication, and trust.

That's why we hire for character as much as skill — and why our values aren't just wall art.

Senior AI Engineer – Generative Geometry (Text-to-CAD) - Python
Remote

Senior AI Engineer – Generative Geometry (Text-to-CAD) - Python

Opportunity

Here at Structure Studios, we built our 25-year reputation by developing award-winning 3D/AR/VR software that changed how an entire industry does business. Now, we’re adding an AI-powered layer that will give AI the ability to draw via Text-to-CAD.

Using our pre-existing software architecture to feed AI the data it needs, you will build systems that convert natural language into deterministic, constraint-valid 2D geometry using our CAD tool API. If you've ever made an LLM reliably produce structured, schema-valid output (whether for code generation, SQL, geospatial tooling, or a custom DSL), you already understand the core challenge here. The domain is CAD geometry, and the engineering problem is one you know how to solve.

Top 5 Reasons to Join Us
  1. No layers of project management here — you’ll interface directly with experienced stakeholders.

  2. We already have product market fit.

  3. You won’t build AI demos. You’ll build AI used daily by thousands of professional designers.

  4. We're stable.

  5. We changed an entire industry once before, and we’re excited to do it again.

Responsibilities
  • Design, build, and maintain a Python back-end service for AI-powered Text-to-CAD (no front-end work required).

  • Partner with product and back-end teams to design deterministic output formats (JSON) for reliable CAD generation.

  • Fine-tune LLMs using curated CAD datasets to improve spatial reasoning and command accuracy.

  • Design structured prompt systems that reliably generate JSON drawing instructions matching strict geometry schemas.

  • Prepare and manage training datasets for future fine-tuning.

  • Define and build the first version of our AI Text-to-CAD pipeline.

  • Ensure the service can scale to handle thousands of daily requests reliably.

  • Collaborate closely with our veteran software team.

Qualifications
  • 5+ years professional Python experience (production systems), focused on AI libraries (PyTorch).

  • Structured-output LLM engineering: you've built systems where an LLM must produce schema-valid, syntactically correct output. This could come from experience with OpenAI function calling, Instructor, Outlines, Guidance, or similar constrained decoding approaches.

  • Spatial or geometry reasoning: familiarity with computational geometry concepts (polygons, constraints, validation). Relevant backgrounds include geospatial tools (Shapely, PostGIS, GDAL), game engine scripting (Unity, Unreal, Godot), procedural generation, physics simulation, or robotics path-planning.

  • Code or DSL generation: experience building LLM-powered code generators, SQL generators, or domain-specific language compilers demonstrates exactly the kind of strict-output discipline this role requires.

  • Fine-tuning and dataset curation: experience with LoRA/QLoRA or domain-specific fine-tuning (legal, medical, code, or similar) shows you can adapt a general model to a narrow, precise output format.

  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills for cross-team collaboration.

  • Fluent English speaking skills

Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Background in 3D software (Blender, Unreal, CAD, SketchUp).

  • Background in fine-tuning or deploying AI in creative industries.

  • Knowledge of cloud deployment (AWS/GCP/Azure).

What Success Looks Like in 6 Months
  • Text prompts reliably generate production-valid 2D shapes

  • AI can generate complete landscape layouts using plant constraints

  • System supports 1,000+ daily requests with <2% geometry failure rate

  • Output adheres to JSON schema 100% of the time

Hiring Process

Our interview process is quick and to the point. You'll talk with the founders from the very first call, which means we can wrap up the entire process in days rather than weeks.

  • 5-min Questionnaire

  • 25-min call with the CEO to discuss background, experience, and career goals; answer questions; and get take-home exercise so we can understand how you solve problems

  • 50-min review of a past project with Backend Architect

The Problem Worth Solving

Pool and landscape designers spend 2-3 days manually estimating project costs after completing a design. They're working from spreadsheets, tribal knowledge, and gut feel on top of software they already paid for that contains every measurement, material, and specification they need.

We're ending that.

Structure Studios builds the industry-standard 3D design software, so we have proprietary data no one else has. We built the engine that turns a completed 3D design into a full cost estimate in under 7 minutes. The MVP is 80% complete.

Now we need the person who brings it into our customers' hands and starts building what comes next.

What This Role Actually Is

This is not a launch coordinator role. It's not a backlog manager. And it's not a title for someone who will be handed a finished product and told to write a press release.

The MVP is structurally sound. What it needs is a PM who will spend time with real customers, lead us through initial rollout with hand-selected accounts, and then take ownership of feature prioritization and future roadmap planning as we scale.

In this high-collaboration role, you’ll sit at the intersection of customer insight, engineering direction, and product quality. You'll work closely with the CEO and have real influence over what gets built and when because you’ll be driving the evidence-gathering for our customer-informed decisions.

What You'll Own
Phase 1 — Customer and Product Mastery
  • Deeply understand the product and the user flow

  • Interview customers currently doing estimates manually to surface friction, objections, and workflow reality

  • Work with engineering to finalize and ship the MVP

Phase 2 — Controlled Rollout
  • Roll out to selected accounts with hands-on onboarding

  • Lead structured feedback cycles

  • Prioritize what gets fixed, what gets deferred, and what changes the roadmap

Phase 3 — Scale
  • Design and refine in-product onboarding flows that get new users to value quickly

  • Own roadmap prioritization as the customer base grows

  • Collaborate with marketing on product positioning, remembering that you own the product experience, not the campaigns

  • Lead discovery and planning for major new modules already on the horizon — this product has a significant roadmap ahead of it, not a maintenance queue

Why This Opportunity Is Real

The data moat is real. The only reason this product is possible is because we own proprietary 3D design data that no competitor can replicate. We're not building a feature. We're building a category.

  • First mover in our industry: Workflow automation like this exists in other industries, but nobody has brought it to ours because nobody else has the data to make it work.

  • Captive customer base: We're not finding new customers cold. We're solving an expensive problem for people who already trust us.

  • Proven company: We don't do hype cycles. Structure Studios has been profitable for years and keeps its people (our average developer has been here 9+ years).

  • Validated demand: We know our customers. We talk to them. This is a genuine pain point they will pay to eliminate.

Qualifications
  • 6+ years in SaaS product roles, with at least one full launch cycle from near-complete build to revenue traction

  • Vertical SaaS background

  • Strong customer interview and discovery skills

  • Comfortable working in close collaboration with a founder/CEO without needing heavy organizational structure

  • High execution speed with sound judgment under ambiguity

  • You actively use AI tools in your workflow and look for ways to apply them to product problems, not just personal productivity

  • Excellent English speaking skills

Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Experience in cost estimation, proposals, contracts, or adjacent workflow SaaS

  • Experience replacing manual processes with automated tools

  • Successfully launched a SaaS product into an established customer base and driven early revenue traction

  • Offer extended
